Description
A geospatial dataset containing 2,699,969 building footprints assessed for damage after the 24 June 2026 Venezuela earthquake. The data, produced by Conflict Ecology using Sentinel-1 satellite radar coherent change detection, estimates 69,431 buildings were likely damaged or destroyed as of 1 July 2026. It provides damage confidence tiers for 123,633 flagged structures.
Use Cases
Prioritizing field inspections based on satellite-derived damage confidence tiers for 123,633 flagged buildings.
Analyzing the spatial distribution of likely damaged structures within the USGS ShakeMap MMI ≥ VI shaking area.
Validating and calibrating rapid damage assessment models using the 69,431 buildings flagged with a binary damage indicator.
Mapping the analyzed area coverage to avoid misinterpreting unassessed ground as undamaged.
Strengths
Covers 100% of the USGS ShakeMap Modified Mercalli Intensity ≥ VI area, monitoring 2,699,969 building footprints.
Provides a specific estimate of 69,431 buildings likely damaged or destroyed, with confidence tiers for 123,633 structures.
Based on eight post-event Sentinel-1 acquisitions from 24 June to 1 July 2026 and 260 pre-event reference images from April 2025 to June 2026.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The damage indicator reflects abrupt surface change consistent with damage, not a confirmation for any individual building.
