Southern Australia's Bight Basin contains a new stratigraphic interpretation of Cretaceous sedimentary rocks from petroleum wells and water bores. The record, published by Geoscience Australia, correlates onshore and offshore sections using biostratigraphic and seismic data. It identifies organic-rich shales from the Valanginian to Campanian stages, with sections reaching over 357 meters thick in the Madura 1 well.
