Description
10 LiDAR locations along a transect in the Gotthard wind park provide wind speed, wind direction, turbulence, temperature, pressure, and humidity data from the summer of 2023. The data is quality controlled and annotated according to CF-1.8 data principles. The collection methods are detailed in an article under review titled 'Resolving three-dimensional wind velocity fields with sequential wind-Doppler LiDAR for wind energy in the complex terrain - Gotthard Pass, Switzerland'.
Use Cases
Modeling wind resource potential for turbine placement based on wind speed and direction profiles.
Analyzing atmospheric stability and turbulence effects on energy production based on turbulence and temperature data.
Validating and improving computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models for complex terrain using multi-point wind measurements.
Studying microclimate and weather patterns in mountainous regions based on pressure and humidity data.
Strengths
Data is quality controlled and follows the CF-1.8 metadata convention, which suggests standardized formatting.
