Description
A bathymetry survey of the Van Diemen Gulf (North-West Inshore Route), Northern Territory, was conducted from 26 June 2021 to 5 October 2021. The survey was acquired for the Australian Hydrographic Office by Guardian Geomatics using a Kongsberg EM2040-07 MKII sonar system. The processed data is provided as a 30-meter resolution, 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF grid.
Use Cases
Modeling seafloor topography based on the 30-meter resolution bathymetric grid.
Analyzing underwater terrain features in Van Diemen Gulf based on the sonar survey data.
Supporting marine spatial planning and environmental studies based on the high-resolution depth information.
Creating nautical chart updates and aids to navigation research based on the hydrographic survey.
Strengths
Data was collected using a specific, high-resolution sonar system (Kongsberg EM2040-07 MKII).
The final product is a georeferenced 30-meter resolution grid, providing a consistent spatial data structure.
Survey has a defined temporal scope from 26 June 2021 to 5 October 2021.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
