Description
Van Diemen Gulf, Northern Territory, Australia, was surveyed for bathymetry data between 26 June and 5 October 2021. The survey was conducted for the Australian Hydrographic Office by Guardian Geomatics under the Hydroscheme Industry Partnership Program. Data was acquired using a Kongsberg EM2040-07 MKII multibeam echosounder and processed into a 30-meter resolution GeoTIFF grid.
Use Cases
Modeling seafloor topography based on high-resolution bathymetric data.
Analyzing underwater terrain features for marine research based on the 30m resolution grid.
Studying coastal and inshore marine geography in Northern Australia based on the defined survey area.
Strengths
Data was acquired using a specific, high-grade instrument (Kongsberg EM2040-07 MKII).
The final product is a 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF with a defined 30-meter resolution.
The survey has a precise temporal coverage from 26 Jun 2021 to 5 Oct 2021.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The dataset is explicitly not to be used for navigational purposes, limiting its application scope.
