Description
A bathymetry survey covering an area in Cape Leeuwin, Western Australia, acquired between 5 December 2022 and 4 April 2023. The data was collected for the Australian Hydrographic Office by MMA Offshore using a Kongsberg EM2040P multibeam sonar system. The processed dataset is a 30-meter resolution, 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF grid.
Use Cases
Modeling seafloor topography based on the 30-meter resolution bathymetric grid.
Analyzing coastal and marine geomorphology based on the high-resolution survey data.
Supporting marine spatial planning and environmental studies based on the defined survey area.
Calibrating or validating other bathymetric or oceanographic models based on the sonar-acquired data.
Strengths
Survey conducted over a defined 4-month period from 5 Dec 2022 to 4 Apr 2023.
Data processed to a specific 30-meter resolution grid using CARIS HIPS and SIPS software.
Acquired using a specific, named multibeam sonar system (Kongsberg EM2040P).
Limitations
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The description explicitly states the dataset is not to be used for navigational purposes.
