Description
A hazard map from a 1997 flood risk study by the Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières (BRGM) delineates areas exposed to one or more hazards in the Porto watershed. The map, used for risk analysis, was approved on 09/02/2004 and includes areas protected by structures, which are considered subject to hazard. The dataset represents a synthesis of multiple sources of calculated, modelled, or observed hazard data.
Use Cases
Risk assessment modeling based on hazard probability and intensity levels described in the dataset.
Urban planning and land-use zoning based on graduated hazard zones.
Evaluating the impact of protective structures on hazard exposure, as they are included in the zoning.
Historical analysis of flood risk management policies stemming from the 1997 study.
Strengths
Based on a specific 1997 flood risk study conducted by BRGM.
Includes areas protected by structures, accounting for potential failure.
Represents a synthesis of multiple hazard data sources.
