Description
Alsace's 2014 Regional Ecological Coherence Scheme includes a spatial layer mapping urbanised areas at a 1:100,000 scale. The layer locates housing, services, infrastructure, industrial zones, and agricultural holdings. The Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières produced this dataset, last updated in March 2019.
Use Cases
Model urban sprawl based on mapped housing and service areas.
Assess ecological corridor fragmentation based on infrastructure and industrial zone locations.
Plan regional development based on the distribution of public utility spaces like schools and hospitals.
Analyze land-use conflicts between urbanised areas and agricultural holdings.
Strengths
Spatial information produced at a consistent 1:100,000 scale.
Covers multiple urban functions including infrastructure, industry, and public utilities.
