Description
Sensitivity maps created by the ODONAT Grand Est network in 2018-2019 prioritize space for the Milan Royal (Milvus milvus) species based on recent occurrence data from 2009-2018. The map uses three action radii (3,000 m, 10,000 m, and 20,000 m) and favorable land cover to classify areas into high, medium, and low priority levels. Data was mobilized by regional fauna collectives coordinated by LPO Champagne-Ardenne, LPO Grand Est, and LPO Alsace.
Use Cases
Prioritize conservation zones based on the three-level sensitivity classification (high, medium, low).
Model species habitat suitability using the defined action radii (3,000 m, 10,000 m, 20,000 m) and favorable land cover.
Assess the state of species distribution knowledge for the Milan Royal in the Grand Est region circa 2018-2019.
Strengths
Map is based on recent occurrence data spanning 2009-2018.
Prioritization uses three defined action radii (3,000 m, 10,000 m, 20,000 m) and land cover data.
Data was compiled by a coordinated network of regional fauna organizations (LPO Champagne-Ardenne, LPO Grand Est, LPO Alsace).
Limitations
The creators state the layer should not be considered exhaustive and species presence outside mapped areas is possible.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
