Description
Southern Kangaroo Island bathymetry data was collected from February 3 to 7, 2022. The survey, SKI0001, was conducted by Precision Hydrographic Service Pty Ltd using a Kongsberg 2040P multibeam echosounder aboard the vessel Southern Ranger. Its objective was to map the seabed in five areas south of Kangaroo Island for habitat analysis.
Use Cases
Modeling seabed topography based on multibeam bathymetry data
Classifying benthic habitats based on backscatter and bathymetry mentioned in the description
Analyzing underwater terrain features for ecological research
Creating base maps for marine spatial planning in the Kangaroo Island region
Strengths
Data was collected over a specific five-day period from February 3 to 7, 2022
Acquired using a Kongsberg 2040P MBES, a specific and professional-grade instrument
Survey has a clear objective focused on habitat mapping for five defined areas
