Description
Liverpool Bay water quality data collected from a SmartBuoy at 53.4475 N, 3.6428 W. The buoy recorded hourly nitrate, twice-hourly chlorophyll fluorescence, and daily silicate measurements, alongside conductivity, temperature, suspended sediment, and light penetration data from May 2005 to April 2011. Data were telemetered every two hours via ORBCOMM satellite.
Use Cases
Modeling phytoplankton bloom dynamics based on chlorophyll fluorescence and nutrient concentration time series.
Analyzing seasonal nutrient cycles in coastal waters based on nitrate and silicate measurements.
Studying relationships between water clarity, suspended sediment, and light penetration data.
Calibrating satellite ocean color data with in-situ chlorophyll and temperature measurements.
Strengths
Provides a six-year continuous time series from May 2005 to April 2011.
Includes multiple sensor types measuring physical, chemical, and biological parameters.
Data were transmitted via satellite telemetry, suggesting regular collection intervals.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
Provenance
