March 2023 data from ground-penetrating radar surveys conducted at two sites in northern Alaska during the SnowEx23 field campaign. The data set includes two-way travel time, derived snow depth, and derived snow water equivalent. Data were collected between 8 and 14 March 2023 by the NSIDC_CPRD organization.
Use Cases
- Estimating snow depth based on derived snow depth measurements
- Calculating snow water equivalent based on derived snow water equivalent data
- Analyzing subsurface snow structure based on two-way travel time data
- Modeling Arctic snowpack dynamics based on data from the Arctic Coastal Plain and Upper Kuparuk/Toolik sites
Strengths
- Data collected during a specific field campaign (SnowEx23)
- Includes derived snow depth and snow water equivalent metrics
- Spatial coverage includes two distinct sites in northern Alaska
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
