snowpackBuoyantPimpleFoam is an Eulerian–Eulerian two-phase solver implemented to model convection of water vapor with phase change in snowpacks. The solver is based on the standard buoyantPimpleFoam solver in the open-source fluid dynamics software OpenFOAM 5.0. The dataset was published by ENVIDAT and last updated on January 1, 2021.
Use Cases
- Simulate water vapor convection in snowpacks based on the two-phase solver description
- Model phase change processes in porous materials based on the Eulerian–Eulerian framework
- Benchmark or extend OpenFOAM solvers for environmental physics applications
Strengths
- Solver is based on the established OpenFOAM 5.0 framework
- Model specifically designed for convection with phase change in snowpacks
Limitations
- Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download
- Last updated 2021-01-01 00:00:00; freshness should be verified
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
