Queensland's 2017 remnant vegetation extent covers 80% of the state, with 10.1% of this vegetation located within protected areas such as national parks and nature refuges. The dataset, provided by the Queensland Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation, shows the uneven distribution of protected areas across bioregions and the varying representation of broad vegetation groups within them. It was last updated in May 2026.
