Based on soil profile data from 458 pits and 114 cores, this dataset provides soil organic carbon storage and spatial distribution estimates at depths of 0–30 cm, 0–50 cm, 0–100 cm, 0–200 cm, and 0–300 cm. It was created by Dong Wang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences using a machine-learning approach on multiple environmental variables. The data is stored as geospatial grids at a 1 km² resolution for the frozen ground area of the Third Pole region.
Data is provided in a geospatial grid format (TIFF files named 'TP-SOC-d.tif'), which requires GIS or raster processing software for analysis.
