30 plot subset within the ARCSS grid in Atqasuk, Alaska. Soil temperature measurements were taken at about a 10 cm depth on the north eastern most corner of each plot, located from E2-E6 and J2-J6. The SEL Lab's Taylor Temperature Probe was used, and the data was last updated on August 6, 2010.
Use Cases
- Modeling soil thermal dynamics based on point measurements at a 10 cm depth.
- Analyzing permafrost stability based on temperature readings from a defined grid subset.
- Correlating soil temperature with other environmental variables based on the geographic location in Atqasuk, Alaska.
- Studying microclimate variations within a research grid based on measurements from specific plot corners.
Strengths
- 30 plot subset provides a structured spatial sampling.
- Measurements taken at a consistent depth of about 10 cm.
- Specific geographic location defined (Atqasuk, Alaska).
Limitations
- Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
