2011 summer field season soil temperature measurements taken on a 30 plot subset within the ARCSS grid in Atqasuk, Alaska. Measurements were made at about a 10 cm depth on the northeastern corner of each plot using the SEL Lab's Taylor Temperature Probe. The subset was located from E2-E6 and J2-J6.
Use Cases
- Modeling soil thermal regimes in Arctic tundra based on point measurements.
- Analyzing spatial variability of soil temperature within a defined grid.
- Correlating soil temperature with other environmental factors based on plot location.
- Studying seasonal soil dynamics in Alaska based on summer field data.
Strengths
- 30 plot subset provides a structured spatial sampling framework.
- Specific measurement depth of about 10 cm is documented.
- Precise geographic location (Atqasuk, Alaska) and grid coordinates (E2-E6, J2-J6) are provided.
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
