Geochemical data from fourteen petroleum exploration wells evaluate source rock potential and organic maturation in the Darling Basin of western New South Wales. The data, held by the Australian Ocean Data Network, indicate hydrocarbon prospectivity is confined to the concealed western basin. The analysis suggests the eastern flank of the Lake Wintlow High - Wilcannia High is the most prospective region.
