Description
Labour relations data for South Africa from the years 1900 and 2000, created by Daan Jansen and Joris Kok of the IISH. This version, updated in October 2020, includes only records containing labour relations, with population data removed. The dataset underwent cleaning, separation of male and female individuals, and removal of duplicate records.

Analyzing the structure of labour relations in South Africa based on the described historical records.
Studying gender distribution in historical labour forces based on the separation of male and female individuals.
Tracking changes in labour relations between the two benchmark years of 1900 and 2000.
Cleaning and preparing historical demographic data based on the described deduplication and cleaning processes.
Strengths
Data cleaning and deduplication were performed, as stated in the description.
Male and female individuals are separated, allowing for gender-based analysis.
Focuses specifically on labour relations records, excluding broader population data.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
