Description
A four-epoch infrared survey of 10 square degrees in the Boötes field, conducted using the IRAC instrument on the Spitzer Space Telescope. The Spitzer Cycle 4 Legacy project provides 20 band-matched catalogs reporting Vega magnitudes at 3.6, 4.5, 5.8, and 8 microns. The data, from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is designed to characterize galaxy evolution beyond z ~ 1.5.
Use Cases
Selecting infrared-variable objects based on multi 8 micron epoch observations mentioned in the description
Identifying high proper motion objects based on the four-epoch survey design
Characterizing galaxy evolution beyond z ~ 1.5 based on the survey's sensitivity and large volume
Analyzing photometric properties based on Vega magnitudes reported for four IRAC bands
Strengths
Covers 10 square degrees in the Boötes field, providing a wide-field view
Includes four epochs of observation, enabling time-domain analysis over years
Provides 20 catalogs with band-matched data for four IRAC wavelengths
Source coordinates are aligned to 2MASS catalog positions within 0.2 arcsec
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
File formats include BIN and HTML, which may require specialized tools for access
