Description
Spitzer Enhanced Imaging Products (SEIP) Super Mosaics contain infrared imaging data from the Spitzer space telescope. The mosaics combine data from multiple programs, including the four channels of the IRAC instrument (3.6, 4.5, 5.8, 8 microns) and the 24 micron channel of the MIPS instrument. This Cryogenic Release v3.0 includes data from the telescope's commissioning and cryogenic operations phase, produced by the Infrared Science Archive (IRSA).
Use Cases
Astronomical object detection and classification based on infrared imaging across multiple wavelengths.
Multi-wavelength sky survey analysis by combining data from the IRAC and MIPS instrument channels.
Calibration and validation of infrared data processing pipelines using the included calibration data.
Creating large-scale infrared sky maps for public outreach or educational purposes.
Strengths
Data is from a major NASA space telescope, the last of the Great Observatories.
Combines data from multiple observational programs where appropriate.
Includes data from five specific infrared wavelength channels (3.6, 4.5, 5.8, 8, and 24 microns).
Covers the telescope's commissioning and cryogenic operations period.
