Description
Bathymetry and seabed feature data were collected by EGS onboard the RV Bold Explorer for the SUBCO Subsea Cable Network (SSCN) cable route survey. The survey focused on the Eastern Recherche Marine Park, with operations including equipment calibration and testing conducted from Fremantle Port, Australia, between 17th and 20th April 2024. The dataset is provided by the Australian Ocean Data Network and is not intended for navigational use.
Use Cases
Modeling seabed topography for subsea cable route planning based on bathymetry data.
Analyzing seabed features and shallow geology for environmental impact assessments based on the survey description.
Calibrating marine survey equipment and methodologies based on the described pre-departure testing and calibration procedures.
Strengths
Data collection followed a documented calibration protocol for DGPS, gyros, and multibeam echosounders on specific dates (17th-20th April 2024).
Survey scope is clearly defined to the Eastern Recherche Marine Park for the SSCN Segment 2-B cable route.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
