Description
Survey data collected onboard RV Bold Explorer from Fremantle Port between 17th and 20th April 2024. The dataset comprises bathymetry, seabed features, and shallow geology investigations along a proposed subsea cable route within the Western Eyre Marine Park. Geoscience Australia Data published this dataset, which is not intended for navigational purposes.
Use Cases
Analyze seabed topography for cable route planning based on bathymetry data
Identify potential seabed hazards based on seabed features mentioned in the description
Model shallow geology for environmental impact assessments based on geological investigation
Calibrate marine survey equipment based on described DGPS and MBES calibration procedures
Strengths
Data collection followed a documented calibration procedure for DGPS and multibeam echosounders
Survey covers a specific marine protected area, the Western Eyre Marine Park
Dataset includes multiple seabed investigation types: bathymetry, features, and geology
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Data may reflect temporal bias inherent to the April 2024 survey period
