Description
April 2024 survey data collected by EGS onboard the RV Bold Explorer for the SUBCO Subsea Cable Network (SSCN) cable route. The dataset includes bathymetry, seabed features, and shallow geology investigations within the Western Eyre Marine Park, with a subsequent geotechnical sampling program. It is provided by Geoscience Australia Data.
Use Cases
Modeling seabed topography for cable route planning based on bathymetry data.
Identifying potential seabed hazards for infrastructure projects based on seabed feature analysis.
Analyzing shallow geology for environmental impact assessments within the marine park.
Calibrating sonar equipment using documented sensor testing and calibration procedures.
Strengths
Data collection followed a documented calibration process for positioning and multibeam echosounder systems.
Survey specifics are provided, including vessel name (RV Bold Explorer), client (SUBCO), and precise embarkation dates in April 2024.
Covers a defined geographic area within the Western Eyre Marine Park.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
