Description
Bathymetric survey data for a subsea cable route within the Apollo Marine Park, acquired between February 24 and March 5, 2024. The survey was conducted by EGS Survey Pty Ltd onboard the RV Bold Explorer to support engineering and construction of the SUBCO Subsea Cable Network. The dataset is intended for route planning to identify seabed slopes, conditions, and obstacles, and is not for navigational purposes.
Use Cases
Modeling seabed terrain and slope analysis based on bathymetric data mentioned in the description
Identifying potential obstacles for cable burial based on described seabed features like rock outcrops and existing infrastructure
Planning subsea infrastructure routes based on survey data for engineering and construction
Analyzing shallow geology and seabed conditions for environmental or geotechnical studies
Strengths
Data was acquired during a dedicated survey mission between specific dates in 2024
Survey conducted by a named professional contractor (EGS Survey Pty Ltd) using a specified vessel
Dataset has a defined geographic scope confined to the Apollo Marine Park
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download
