Description
EGS Survey Pty Ltd collected this bathymetric dataset onboard the RV Bold Explorer between February 24 and March 5, 2024. The survey was conducted within the Apollo Marine Park to support the engineering and construction of the SUBCO Subsea Cable Network (SSCN) Segment 2-C. The data is intended for route planning to identify seabed slopes, obstacles, and conditions affecting cable burial.
Use Cases
Identify viable subsea cable routes based on seabed slope analysis.
Assess sea floor conditions for cable ploughing and burial feasibility.
Map seabed obstacles such as rock outcrops, existing cables, and shipwrecks for hazard avoidance.
Strengths
Survey conducted by a professional hydrographic contractor (EGS Survey Pty Ltd) over a defined period.
Data is spatially confined to the Apollo Marine Park, providing focused geographic coverage.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is explicitly not to be used for navigational purposes, limiting its application scope.
