Description
EGS Survey Pty Ltd collected bathymetric data onboard the RV Bold Explorer between February 24 and March 5, 2024. The survey aimed to determine a viable cable route for the SSCN Segment 2-C, assessing seabed slopes, conditions, and obstacles within the Apollo Marine Park. This dataset is provided by the Australian Ocean Data Network and is not for navigational use.
Use Cases
Identify excessive slopes (>6°) for cable route planning based on bathymetric survey data.
Assess seabed conditions for cable ploughing and burial feasibility based on survey findings.
Map obstacles like rock outcrops and existing cables for route clearance analysis.
Analyze shallow geology along a proposed cable route for engineering design.
Strengths
Survey conducted over a defined 10-day period in February-March 2024.
Data focuses on a specific marine park area and cable segment (SSCN Segment 2-C).
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
