Description
EGS survey data collected from the RV Bold Explorer in April 2024 for the SSCN cable route project. The dataset captures bathymetry, seabed features, and shallow geology within the Murray Marine Park, Australia, following a detailed equipment calibration process. A subsequent geotechnical sampling program was also executed.
Use Cases
Modeling seabed terrain for subsea cable routing based on bathymetry data.
Identifying potential seabed hazards for infrastructure projects based on seabed feature investigation.
Analyzing shallow geology for environmental impact assessments based on the survey description.
Calibrating marine survey equipment methodologies based on the documented pre-survey procedures.
Strengths
Data collection followed a documented calibration process for DGPS, gyros, and multibeam echosounders on specific dates (April 17-20, 2024).
Survey covers a defined geographic area within the Murray Marine Park.
Dataset is part of a broader survey including subsequent geotechnical sampling.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is explicitly not to be used for navigational purposes.
