Description
EGS collected this bathymetry dataset during the SUBCO Subsea Cable Network (SSCN) cable route survey onboard the RV Bold Explorer. The survey, conducted in April 2024, investigated bathymetry, seabed features, and shallow geology within the Murray Marine Park. The dataset is hosted by the Australian Ocean Data Network.
Use Cases
Modeling seabed terrain for subsea cable route planning based on bathymetry data.
Analyzing seabed features and shallow geology for environmental impact assessments.
Calibrating and validating marine survey equipment and methodologies based on described procedures.
Strengths
Data collection followed a documented calibration and verification process for positioning and sensor systems from April 17-20, 2024.
Survey scope explicitly includes bathymetry, seabed features, and shallow geology along a proposed cable route.
Dataset is part of a broader, professionally conducted survey for subsea cable network planning.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and data size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset carries a specific warning not to be used for navigational purposes.
