Description
EGS Survey Pty Ltd collected this bathymetric data onboard the RV Bold Explorer between March 7 and April 4, 2024. The survey aimed to determine a viable route for the Subsea Cable Network (SSCN) by identifying seafloor slopes, conditions, and obstacles. This dataset is part of the Australian Ocean Data Network and is not for navigational use.
Use Cases
Identify seafloor slopes exceeding 6 degrees for cable route planning based on the survey's primary purpose.
Map obstacles like rock outcrops and existing cables to assess burial feasibility based on the description.
Model sea floor conditions to inform cable design and installation parameters mentioned in the description.
Strengths
Data was collected during a dedicated 29-day survey in March-April 2024.
The survey was conducted by a professional contractor, EGS Survey Pty Ltd, for a specific engineering purpose.
