Description
EGS Survey Pty Ltd collected this bathymetric data onboard the RV Bold Explorer between March 7 and April 4, 2024. The survey was contracted by OMS to support the engineering and construction of the SUBCO Subsea Cable Network (SSCN) Segment 2-E. Its primary purpose is to identify a secure cable route by mapping seafloor slopes, conditions, and obstacles.
Use Cases
Route planning for subsea cables based on seafloor slope and obstacle data.
Seabed geomorphology analysis based on bathymetric survey data.
Engineering risk assessment for cable burial based on mapped seafloor conditions.
Marine spatial planning within the Beagle Marine Park based on the geospatial coverage.
Strengths
Data was collected during a dedicated 28-day survey in 2024, providing recent observations.
Survey purpose is clearly defined for engineering a major subsea cable network (SSCN).
Spatial coverage is explicitly confined to the Beagle Marine Park.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The description explicitly states the data is not for navigational purposes, limiting its application scope.
