Description
17 Paleozoic marine crude oil samples from the Canning Basin, Western Australia, analyzed for stable carbon and hydrogen isotopic compositions of bulk, saturated, and aromatic hydrocarbons. The dataset includes isotopic profiles of individual n alkanes and comparisons with oils from other Australian basins. Data was contributed by the Australian Ocean Data Network.
Use Cases
Characterizing oil families and petroleum systems based on stable carbon and hydrogen isotopic compositions.
Modeling systematic changes in bulk stable carbon isotopic composition throughout the Paleozoic era.
Investigating the influence of source rock facies and thermal maturation on isotopic profiles.
Comparing isotopic trends across different Australian basins, such as the Canning, Bonaparte, Arafura, and Perth Basins.
Strengths
Includes isotopic data for 17 distinct crude oil samples.
