State Planning Policy 5.4 from Western Australia establishes standardized criteria for assessing transport noise and land use compatibility. The policy and its implementation guidelines apply to proposals for new noise-sensitive developments, new or redeveloped railways or major roads, and new freight handling facilities. It was authored by the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and is scheduled for review within two years of its commencement.
