Description
STEREO-A Plasma and Suprathermal Ion Composition (PLASTIC) 10-min Proton Plasma Parameters contains 10-minute averaged values of solar wind proton flow speed, density, temperature, and thermal speed. The records include flow velocity vector components and direction angles in HERTN and RTN coordinates, along with chi-squared and statistical uncertainties and various flags. This dataset is produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and was last updated on March 13, 2026.
Use Cases
Modeling solar wind propagation based on proton flow speed and density.
Analyzing plasma temperature variations based on 10-minute averaged temperature values.
Studying flow vector directionality based on velocity components in HERTN and RTN coordinates.
Assessing measurement reliability based on chi-squared and statistical uncertainty flags.
Strengths
Includes 10-minute averaged values for key solar wind parameters.
Provides flow velocity vector components and direction angles in multiple coordinate systems.
Contains chi-squared and statistical uncertainties for data quality assessment.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
