Description
Cornwall Council's 2025-reviewed data identifies eight types of strategic open spaces, including parks, sports facilities, and allotments, within towns and settlements with over 1000 dwellings. The dataset provides names, locations, typologies, and areas in square meters for each space, following a methodology established in the 2014 Open Space Strategy. This evidence base supports the Cornwall Local Plan as required by the National Planning Policy Framework 2024.
Use Cases
Assess the distribution and area of different open space typologies based on the eight listed categories.
Model public recreation facility availability per capita based on town/settlement and area data.
Support land-use planning decisions by analyzing the existing strategic open space evidence base.
Map open space locations and types for community area partnership (CAP) planning.
