Description
March 25–26, 2025 imagery of post-wildfire damage and early recovery across the Palisades and Eaton Fire footprints in Los Angeles, California. The dataset contains 12,248 panoramas for the Palisades Fire and 7,526 for the Eaton Fire, collected by Maryia Markhvida and hosted on the DesignSafe Data Depot Repository. It includes per-image metadata, GPS tracks, and a GIS layer, with automated privacy blurring applied.
Use Cases
Train computer vision models for damage assessment based on 360-degree street view panoramas.
Analyze spatial patterns of wildfire impact and recovery based on geolocated imagery and GPS tracks.
Build immersive environments for experiential disaster simulation based on the equirectangular panoramas.
Link building façade imagery to damage attributes for analysis based on the provided extraction script and building footprint database.
Strengths
19,774 total geolocated panoramas (12,248 + 7,526) sampled every 4 meters along 69 miles of survey routes.
Includes per-image metadata (heading, latitude, longitude, altitude, timestamp) and supporting GIS layers.
Automated privacy protection was applied via face and license-plate blurring prior to publication.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The automated blurring method is noted to be imperfect, with potential for missed or insufficient blurs.
Row count for metadata tables is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
