Bacterial Structural Colour Genomes and Phenotypes from 117 Isolates

87 structurally coloured and 30 non-coloured bacterial isolates were collected, sequenced, and optically analyzed. Genome-wide association studies identified genes linked to structural colour, and a classifier was built to predict the trait from genome sequences. The work by Aldert Zomer of Utrecht University provides an ecogenomics view of structural colour across over 13,000 metagenomes.
