A detailed report documents the drilling, logging, and stratigraphic results from the Southwest Bairnsdale No. 1 exploration well in the Gippsland Basin, Victoria. The well was drilled to a depth of 3926 feet over a period from January 8 to February 14, 1963, by contractors for Woodside (Lakes Entrance) Oil Company N.L. and Arco Limited. It achieved its primary objectives of gathering stratigraphic data and testing for hydrocarbons, though it was ultimately plugged and abandoned as a dry hole.
