Description
953 households with 1,157 children aged 2–5 years were surveyed in 2022 within the Taabo Health and Demographic Surveillance System in south-central Côte d'Ivoire. Sibylle Lustenberger collected anthropometric data from 2,472 cocoa-farming households to assess the relationship between agricultural income and child nutritional status. Households were divided into agricultural productivity quintiles, with the top quintile earning USD 6,041 per year compared to USD 2,755 in the bottom quintile.
Use Cases
Analyze the correlation between agricultural income quintiles and child height-for-age z-scores based on the regression analysis described.
Model the odds of child stunting and underweight based on household agricultural productivity data.
Study seasonal nutritional changes based on the observation of underweight decreasing in the 4 months after the main cocoa harvest.
Compare child growth faltering across a wide income range within a specific cocoa-farming population.
Strengths
Includes data from 953 households with 1,157 children, providing a specific sample size.
Contains detailed anthropometric outcomes (height-for-age and weight-for-age z-scores) linked to precise income quintiles.
Provides specific income figures (USD 6,041 and USD 2,755) for top and bottom quintiles.
