Description
Yili River Valley, Xinjiang, the largest lavender-producing region in China, is the study area. This dataset contains measurements of essential oil yield and quality, soil properties, enzyme activities, and bacterial community structure from lavender fields under 1, 3, and 6 years of continuous cropping, with three replicates per treatment. The data was published by Junnan Jian on figshare in 2026 under a CC-BY-4.0 license.
Use Cases
Modeling the relationship between continuous cropping duration and essential oil yield based on the reported 37.9% increase after 6 years.
Analyzing the triphasic pattern of soil nutrients (organic carbon, total nitrogen) under perennial lavender cultivation.
Investigating the vertical stratification effect of continuous cropping on soil bacterial α-diversity in topsoil versus subsoil.
Studying the reduction in bacterial co-occurrence network complexity with increased cropping duration.
Strengths
Includes a controlled experimental design with three cropping duration gradients (1, 3, 6 years) and three replicates per treatment.
Integrates multiple data types: plant yield/quality, soil physicochemical properties, enzyme activities, and bacterial community structure.
Applies multivariate statistical analyses, including Random Forest and Partial Least Squares Path Modeling (PLS-PM), to elucidate mechanisms.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for specific modeling tasks.
The 1.7 MB file size suggests a relatively small dataset, potentially limiting the scope of analysis.
