Eight randomized controlled trials involving 1,775 patients were analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of elastic compression stockings (ECS) in preventing post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) after deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The analysis, conducted by Yuanjie Duan and published on figshare in May 2026, pooled risk ratios and assessed evidence certainty using the GRADE approach. It found ECS were associated with a modest reduction in total and mild-to-moderate PTS, but effects on severe PTS, recurrent DVT, and mortality were uncertain.
