Description
Two decades (2005-2023) of data from a status and trends project and a stream restoration experiment on summer-run steelhead in Asotin Creek, Washington. The dataset includes adult spawner abundance, juvenile emigrant counts, and life history strategy classifications, collected by author Stephen N. Bennett via screw traps, weirs, and PIT tag systems. It was last updated on April 15, 2026.
Use Cases
Modeling population productivity based on adult spawner abundance and juvenile emigrant counts.
Analyzing life history strategy diversity based on the 24 identified strategies of freshwater and ocean residence.
Assessing density-dependent relationships based on the emigrants per female spawning cohort metric.
Evaluating monitoring method uncertainty based on the influence of life history diversity and equipment failure on capture and detection rates.
Strengths
Long-term temporal coverage spanning two decades (2005-2023).
Captures high variance in population metrics (e.g., adult abundance CV=74.2%).
Identifies 24 distinct life history strategies within the population.
Combines multiple data collection methods (screw traps, weirs, PIT tags).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The description notes high variability in estimates and uncertainties in abundance estimation methods.
