Male Schizophrenia Case-Control Study on Toxoplasma and IFN-γ Genotype

103 male cases meeting DSM-IV criteria for paranoid schizophrenia and 102 healthy male controls from Israeli mental health centers were analyzed. The study assessed Toxoplasma gondii serostatus via ELFA/VIDAS assays and genotyped the IFN-γ +874T/A polymorphism using TaqMan assays. Logistic regression modeled case status against TG serostatus, genotype, their interaction, and age.
