Description
Strain ASS1, isolated from crude oil-contaminated soil in Tabasco, Mexico, represents a novel bacterial species. Its complete 4,564,481 bp genome was sequenced and analyzed, demonstrating a broad capacity to degrade polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The dataset, authored by Temidayo O. Elufisan and last updated in May 2026, includes supporting documentation for this taxonomic and functional characterization.
Use Cases
Comparative genomic analysis based on the described average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization results.
Studying polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon catabolic pathways based on the identified complete upper pathway gene cassette.
Taxonomic classification and phylogenomics based on the core genome and MLST analyses mentioned.
Assessing genome quality and completeness based on the reported BUSCO and CheckM2 metrics.
Strengths
Genome assembly is reported as a single closed contig with 99.7% BUSCO completeness and 0.0% contamination.
Taxonomic distinctness is supported by specific metrics: ANIb of 93.30% and dDDH of 50.4% against the closest neighbor.
Functional capacity is validated by in vitro growth assays on four PAH substrates, with statistical results provided.
Limitations
The dataset is a 587.7 KB DOCX file, indicating a limited scope focused on supplementary documentation rather than raw genomic data.
Column-level documentation for any underlying data tables is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count for any associated data is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for computational analysis.
