99 Ugandan children aged 3–12 years were prospectively followed from 2015–2016 to study the antiretroviral drug efavirenz. Plasma samples at 2, 6, 12, and 24 weeks post-treatment were analyzed for EFV and its metabolites using liquid chromatography high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry. The study, authored by Sandra Soeria-Atmadja, links metabolite ratios and CNS symptoms to CYP2B6 metabolizer phenotypes.
