Description
100 contamination-free genomes of Micrococcus luteus were retrieved from NCBI, with 12 strains selected for analysis. The dataset includes annotations for genome size, plant-growth-promoting genes, heavy-metal resistance genes, genomic islands, insertion sequences, and prophages. It was authored by Ashutosh Kabiraj and last updated in May 2026.
Use Cases
Analyze niche-specific adaptation based on ANI values and isolation sources mentioned in the description
Identify plant-growth-promoting traits based on tryptophan biosynthesizing genes and aes family proteins
Study heavy-metal resistance mechanisms based on arsenic, mercury, and copper homeostasis genes
Investigate genomic plasticity based on the presence of genomic islands, insertion sequences, and prophages
Assess antibiotic sensitivity profiles based on the Comprehensive Antibiotic Resistance Database analysis
Strengths
Includes 12 strains from six different isolation sources, providing comparative context
Genome size range (2.4 to 2.8 Mb) and counts of genomic islands (21–37) and insertion sequences (28 to 76) are specified
Functional annotation identified 15,444 KEGG orthologs and 6,022 Pfam domains
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Provenance
Source
National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)
Collection Method
Genomes retrieved and analyzed using in silico comparative genomic analysis, Prokka annotation, IslandViewer 4, PHASTER, and functional annotation tools.
