Description
Four global case studies from 1996 to 2024 provide processed tabular data on urban hydrological resilience. The dataset contains six tables with area-averaged soil moisture, a derived Robustness Index, model performance metrics, and planning framework thresholds. It was compiled by Francis Deng Clement to support a manuscript analyzing the Greater Bay Area, UAE, southern Madagascar, and Andean páramos.
Use Cases
Analyze the relationship between the Robustness Index (RI) and flood frequency validation data across the four case study regions.
Compare cross-validated R² and RMSE for SVR and KNN models using DINOv3-derived features from Street View and Remote Sensing Imagery.
Evaluate performance metrics (NSE, Bias, nRMSE) for seven actual evapotranspiration estimation methods against eddy covariance measurements.
Model NDVI recovery using exponential parameters from Sentinel-2 data following the UAE's April 2024 extreme rainfall event.
Apply the three-tier spatial planning framework using empirical RI and Compactness Index thresholds for intervention strategy analysis.
Strengths
Covers a 28-year time series from 1996 to 2024 for longitudinal analysis.
Includes data from four contrasting global regions: a subtropical megalopolis, hyper-arid zone, drought-vulnerable area, and natural reference system.
Provides model performance metrics from a Leave-One-Site-Out cross-validation scheme across all four case studies.
Contains specific validation data, such as a recorded 254.8 mm rainfall event in 24 hours for the UAE.
Limitations
The dataset is very small at 20.9 KB, indicating limited raw data volume and likely aggregated summary statistics.
Data is provided as processed, intermediate outputs, not primary satellite imagery or raw measurements.
Geographic scope is limited to four specific case studies, which may not be representative of other urban or ecological contexts.
Provenance
Source
Derived from publicly available satellite sources including ESA CCI, ERA5, and Sentinel-2.
Collection Method
Processed tabular data, model performance metrics, and planning thresholds compiled to support a specific academic manuscript.
