Description
Monthly measurements of soil respiration, litterfall, and environmental variables collected in Jambi, Indonesia. Data were gathered across a land-use transition from primary forest to degraded forest and oil palm plantations to evaluate ecosystem carbon dynamics. The dataset was authored by Swails, E. and is hosted by the CIFOR Harvested Dataverse.
Use Cases
Modeling soil carbon emissions based on monthly soil respiration measurements.
Analyzing litterfall productivity across different land-use types (forest, degraded forest, oil palm).
Evaluating the influence of soil microtopography on ecosystem carbon dynamics.
Assessing spatio-temporal variability in carbon fluxes from fertilization experiments.
Strengths
Data includes monthly measurements, enabling analysis of temporal patterns.
Covers a land-use transition gradient from primary forest to oil palm plantations.
Includes multiple data streams: soil respiration, litterfall, and environmental variables.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to the Jambi, Indonesia study site.
