From June 3 to July 10, 2016, surface underway chemical and physical data were collected in Baffin Bay during the CCGS Amundsen Green Edge cruise AN1601. The dataset includes measurements of partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2), fugacity of CO2 (fCO2), mol fraction of CO2 (xCO2), sea surface salinity, and sea surface temperature. These data were submitted to NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information.
Use Cases
- Calculate ocean-atmosphere CO2 exchange rates based on pCO2 and fCO2 measurements.
- Analyze relationships between sea surface temperature and CO2 solubility.
- Model carbon dynamics in Arctic waters using salinity and temperature data.
- Validate satellite-derived ocean carbon estimates with in-situ surface underway data.
Strengths
- Data covers a specific 38-day research cruise in the Arctic region.
- Includes multiple related CO2 measurements (pCO2, fCO2, xCO2) alongside salinity and temperature.
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Last updated 2016-07-10 00:00:00; freshness should be verified.
