Description
A 1982 survey conducted between 27 January and 14 February by Cefas on the vessel Cirolana as part of the International Bottom Trawl Survey. Operations covered 118 stations in the North Sea, catching 41 species using standardized GOV and ISAAC-KIDD trawls. The data likely contains station, catch, length, and biological records for selected species, alongside benthic, temperature, salinity, and litter information.
Use Cases
Analyzing species distribution and abundance based on catch data from 118 stations.
Modeling fish population dynamics using length and biological data for selected species.
Studying benthic ecosystem interactions based on collected benthic data.
Investigating environmental correlations using water temperature and salinity measurements.
Strengths
Survey operations were standardized using GOV and ISAAC-KIDD trawls per IYFS specifications.
Data collection covers multiple domains: 41 species caught, plus benthic, temperature, salinity, and litter data.
Temporal and spatial scope is clearly defined: 118 stations surveyed over a 19-day period in the North Sea.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale modeling.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
